Im totally thrilled that you found your way to my little corner of the internet! My name is Veelana and I’m from Vienna (horrible pun totally intended – my real Name is Sarah). I’ve been Vee ever since I started doing anything on the internet, well over a decade ago. So if you find a Veelana anywhere (scrapbooking forums, doll making groups, social media, fanfiction sites, you name it), odds are its me 🙂

Since I dislike Walls of Text just as much as anyone else, I decided to interview myself. Grab a cup of your favourite beverage, this page got pretty long…

 Can you tell our readers about yourself?

Totally! My Name is Vee and I am a mom of three smart little monsters. Since their names are super secret *queue mission impossible theme*, lets give them cool cover names.
“The Ninja” is ten and will probably pick a new covername very soon, the “fighting princess” is eight and my youngest is two. He doesn’t have a blogname yet, lets call him “Tickles”.

 

 

 

 

 

I’m married, and yes, I am aware that I am only a dog and a white picket fence away from that Kodachrome perfect picture of a conservative family. Except – to describe me as a conservative woman would be so far off…

I’m a feminist, pro-choice, Alphabet Soup loving (LGBTQIA – get it? horrible pun fully intended AGAIN. Ha.), left wing, socialist, liberal atheist. I’m sure I forgot something…I also think that science should be used as a tool to understand our unbelievably wonderful world instead of medieval fantasy and resulting fanfiction.

Describe how did you first get into blogging?

I used to blog for a long time on Veelanasdesign.com, but I never got a lot of readers, and without anyone to listen, I stopped talking. But since I love talking, I wanted to start again.

How would you describe your blogging style?

Weird, honest, somewhat eclectic. Expect some family posts mixed in with posts about feminism, atheism, political stuff, Science and homeschooling 🙂

What would be your ideal working environment?

How about I post a picture instead?

Who has impacted you most in blogging and how?

I’m going to say Pat Rothfuss did. I wasn’t that big of a fan when I read his Book, but his personality on his Blog totally hooked me.

How do you think I rate your blog as an interviewer?

I hope very well – if I don’t like my own blog, why should anyone else?

What do you do in your spare time?

What spare time? Ihave three kids, an appartment, a job, a husband… If I can find the time for it I currently read and swim. Usually not at the same time, though 🙂

Where would you like to be in blogging five years from now?

What inspired you to start your blog?

That’s one of the core questions, isn’t it?
I love writing, but thats really not enough. I could have a journal (I do ;.)) instead of a blog.

I used to read a bunch of blogs about homeschooling before my oldest started school. I loved those blog, seriously! Free printables, great craft ideas, plans…whatever you need! And then you read a little more and it’s all “Lord Jesus” this, “Heavenly Father” that. How do we best avoid the subject of Dinosaurs and *wispers* evolution?

There are very few secular homeschooling blogs out there. And openly atheist ones? Even fewer. Atheist parenting blogs, where I can find a community of likeminded freaks? So, so,so very few…

I just decided that the internet needed more atheist parenting blogs, and that I would do my share and just start one 🙂 Maybe the “likeminded freaks” out there will find my little reading nook over here this time. I have cookies! Or at least, cookie recipes…
